Edmo Economics-The Bad News

October 14, 2009, the last day I worked, laid off one day after turning 56. My work is in the Building Trades, I’m a Proud Union Carpenter, our pay package, here in LA, about $45 an hour, I know, I’ve heard it before, its all us union people, that are all that’s wrong in the US. Now how about a little old news, I guess it shows I’m really digging comparing everything to silver lately, myopic, no, yes, on that last day I worked, I earned 2 1/2 ounces of silver an hour, one year later, the rate had dropped to 1.84 silver ounces. Feb. 1, 2011, with spot silver at about $29, we would have earned about an ounce and one half silver, at our union rate today, it would only be an ounce. In 2 1/2 years, 3/5 of every dollar earned seems to have vanished, a 60% loss! My ounce of silver might buy 1 1/2 gallons more gasoline today in LA, than a silver ounce bought just two months back, but two months back, every hour worked, earned an extra half ounce of silver! Back to those Gourmet Tamale’s, you know, I figure its a wash, the half ounce extra(?), that half ounce earned in hourly wage, that went away in 60 days, would buy another 4. I don’t know, maybe my math is all screwy, maybe everything is fine, well at least I guess everything maybe is going to their plan, the economy is in recovery, the dollar is in collapse! My business relies on large construction loans, the loans that have dried up, no bank is floating any cash, when the dollars coming back, the dollars paying them back, are worth 60% less, oh yea, maybe its just my screwy math again! Its the dollar, there’s too damn many of them floating around, sure is strange, most of us common people don’t feel we have enough of them, guess that’s why our government will be printing more!
