Description

*People’s Victory Parade: Celebrating 2011’s Global Awakening and Building Towards a New Year of Change!*

2011 has been an inspiring year of new beginnings, new energy, new movement. From Tunisia and Egypt, Greece and Spain, Wisconsin and Wall St., to right here in Philly, people have come together, become more aware, and participated actively in their own liberation in new and exciting ways.

Let’s celebrate! Occupy Philly is hosting a festive community parade to bring the city together and rejoice in the power of the people to create a better future.

Details:
WHO: YOU! We are inviting unions, faith-based groups, social justice organizations, and other Occupies to turn out in their colors, banners and flags.*
WHEN: Gather at 12pm for facepainting and music. Parade begins at 1:00 sharp!
WHERE: Starting location: Rocky Statue at Art Museum
WHY: Because 2011 was a good year for People Power, and 2012 is going to be even better.
HOW: Come! Bring friends! Bring a costume! Build a float if you have the time!

If inclement weather: rain date Saturday January 7.

*We encourage all Occupy Philly working groups to coordinate colorful costumes!

We are looking for a LARGE indoor, wheelchair-accessible space to hold a post-parade reception! Write on the Wall if you have a lead.

Want to help plan the parade? Great, we could use your help. Get in touch!
