The Arc San Francisco is proud to recognize Peet’s Coffee & Tea as the 2013 Employer of the Year. Peet’s has been a longtime champion of employing individuals with developmental disabilties in the workplace, including a client of The Arc. The company will be honored, along with other exemplary companies and client-employees, at The Arc’s upcoming WorkLife Awards ceremony.
The opportunity to work
For people with developmental disabilities, having the opportunity to work is often the single most important factor in achieving personal independence. Work provides much-needed income and is a great source of pride for employers and employees alike. Workers with developmental disabilities offer greater stability in high turnover positions and have lower rates of absenteeism. Plus, these workers raise company morale and bring an important perspective to the workplace.
