Fryzel Visits Credit Union
November 23, 2010, Alexandria Va. – NCUA Board Member, Michael E. Fryzel recently visited FinAns Federal Credit Union in Hammond, Indiana. During his visit, Mr. Fryzel was able to tour the credit union and meet with CEO Aileen Irizarry, Board Chairman Michael Rader, and other members of the credit union Board.
“Credit unions remain an important part of our financial service industry and they have an illustrious history of customer service which FinAns exemplifies,” commented Fryzel.
“Committed to member services and building strong capital, the credit union embodies the principles that the industry was founded on. As the nation continues to struggle, FinAns, as do many credit unions, continues to provide the financial services it membership needs.”
Founded in 1936 as Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Employees, FinAns Federal Credit Union serves those who work for or are retired from the employee groups of Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, Amtrak, CSX, Norfolk Southern Railroad, GATX, and the Kaizen Corporation and their families as well as those who work for or are retired from the Town of Munster and the Town of Griffth and their families.
FinAns is an $11 million credit union that has a philosophy of conservative lending and an emphasis on meeting member needs. They strongly advocate the benefits of ownership in a financial institution offered by participating in a credit union. Their website is located at http://www.finansfcu.org/.
The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of over 90 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
