Director of Equal Opportunity

Alexandria, Va., October 15, 2010 – National Credit Union Administration Executive Director David M. Marquis announced this week that S. Denise Hendricks has been appointed director of the agency’s Equal Opportunity Programs (EOP).
As EOP director, Hendricks oversees three programs for NCUA staff–Affirmative Employment, Special Emphasis and EEO Complaints. The programs are designed to enhance affirmative employment plans in areas such as recruitment, employment, training, retention, and awareness and foster a multi-cultural diverse workforce. They also enhance employment opportunities and the representation of minorities, women, and people with disabilities. EOP office functions include:
 Identify underrepresentation of women, minorities, and people with disabilities;
 Eliminate policies and practices that contribute to underrepresentation of women, minorities and people with disabilities; and
 Develop strategies to improve employment and advancement opportunities for members of underrepresented groups.
“The NCUA Board is committed to fair and inclusive policies and programs that benefit employees and enhance the NCUA workplace,” commented NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz. “In selecting Denise Hendricks, we have chosen an experienced and skilled equal opportunity program director who will enhance our EEO program.”
Denise Hendricks joins NCUA after a 15 year stint with the Department of Defense, most recently Washington Headquarters Services where she served as the Deputy Assistant Director of Equal Employment Opportunity Programs Division. She has worked as an EEO professional in various Department of Defense agencies, including the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, and Department of the Army.
