A Rift Runs Across America
The battle has been joined, its ironic, 147 years on this day, July 3rd, another battle, the battle of Gettysburg ended, on July 1st, that battel was joined, a battle that turned the corner on our Civil War, marking the beginning of an end to a great national tragedy. As I went to sleep last night, I was optimistic, this morning I awoke, saddened, pthe Senate had voted, go to war, declaring war on the beaten down, unemployed, working men and woman of America! There won’t be anything civil about this war, we’re gonna have to fight this one out in the trenches. Its us against them again, a battle of the classes, this time the lines are blurred. ~Eighteenth-century German philosopher Georg Friedrich Hegel long ago developed, among other things, what he called the principle of “thesis, antithesis, synthesis” to explain the process of deliberately enacted social disorder and change as a road to power. To achieve a desired result, one deliberately creates a situation (“thesis”), devises a “solution,” to solve the “problems” created by that situation (“antithesis”), with the final result being the ultimate goal of more power and control (“synthesis”).~ Each and every issue we face as a nation is a direct result of the action or inaction by our government, we have wars that should have never been fought, we’ve got oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, a by product of the stripping away of regulation put in place to prevent a disaster like this. Speaking about stripping away…,
“Cutting benefits will light a fire under those who are perhaps not embracing the entrepreneurial spirit of America as closely as they should. Even if they take lower wages, they can work through the ranks and become self sufficient…”
Just a little bit of the bull shit that has started backing up, spewing out of the mouths of Republicans, I think Ben Nelson has been pukeing up some of that bullshit too. Now on to some local news, the Governor out here, yesterday cut state workers pay down to the federal minimum wage, the Controller said he wouldn’t comply, it went to the courts, and a decision was handed down in favor of the Governor, chalk another one up for the Terminator! I just think someone needs to make a stand, it just seems wrong, he’s layed seige to the wrong camp. How about this, that each member of the California Legislature, for every day they’re late on passing a budget, that they work for federal minimum wage, maybe as a extra incentive, strip away all perks that come with the job every day that they’re late as well. I don’t know what these men and women earn, let’s say $150,000 a year, let’s say they’re 3 weeks late on the budget, at one hundred fifty thou a year, thats$401 per day, at 3 weeks thats$8630, how about we just take that away. At $7.25 an hour, that’s 120 hours in that’s $870, we’ll pay them that instead, no overtime for this, just straight eights, coffee breaks, a half hour lunch, you know, just like working people, if it takes them four weeks, what the heck, it is like it is, just get it done. Anyhow to me this seems fair, its a pretty big hit, but it would be a self inflicted hit, .
