APPALACHIAN COMMUNITY ACTION & DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

Appalachian Community Action & Development Agency, Inc., (AppCAA) formerly known as RADA, has effectively served the needs of low- to moderate- income individuals in southwest Virginia since 1965. AppCAA serves Lee, Scott and Wise Counties as well as the City of Norton.

The work performed by AppCAA is guided by its primary purpose to eliminate poverty and make its clients more self-sufficient. This is accomplished by the development of resources and services to low-income individuals and households in its jurisdictions.

AppCAA wants to meet the current needs of people and then teach them to stand on their own without any public assistance. Sometimes emergency assistance is necessary to meet immediate needs such as housing and food. Training is provided on money management/budgeting and homebuyer education. Housing Counseling, including credit repair, is available also.

AppCAA provides a wide range of services. The following pages will provide information about the programs and will highlight the success of several of them.
